Our Mission

The Court Services Division's mission is to provide safety, security, and service to the courthouses, courtrooms, clerk offices, the Administration Building, and the Tax Collector's offices under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Office.

Key Responsibilities

Day in the Life

A day in the Court Services Division begins with opening the buildings we staff. If it is a court day, we provide deputies inside the courtroom(s) to ensure safety for all involved in the cases being heard. We provide transportation for defendants in custody to and from the courtrooms where they are scheduled to appear.

If assigned to one of the other buildings we staff, we provide safety and security for the employees assigned there as well as the citizens conducting business in those buildings.

Why Court Services?

The Court Services Division is made up of 5 different courts, 13 different judges, 3 different courthouses, the DeSoto County Administration Building, and the 2 Tax Collector's offices outside Hernando. We have a strong team in place that works together to ensure anyone who visits the buildings we are responsible for has a positive encounter.

On average, we interact with over 125,000 citizens and 4,700 inmates each year.
